New Ambassador Program Takes Flight 

The Butler Ambassador program, a new initiative led by the University’s Community Engagement office, invites alumni, parents, and friends to stay connected and advance Butler’s mission—no matter where they live. 

“The Butler Ambassador program is designed to harness the passions of the full community of Butler alumni, parents, and supporters that now spans the globe,” says Jonathan Purvis, Vice President for Advancement and Marketing. “Butler University’s bold plans for the future can only be realized by engaging the power of our global Butler community.” 

The new structure builds upon the University’s former regional alumni model, expanding opportunities beyond geographic boundaries. Instead of focusing solely on city-based chapters, the Ambassador program offers flexible, structured ways for Bulldogs everywhere to get involved. 

Central to the program is its customizable level of commitment. Ambassadors can choose how they participate based on their interests and availability. One of the simplest ways to serve is by proudly representing Butler in everyday life—displaying University license plates, hanging Butler flags in offices, or wearing Butler gear. These visible expressions of pride help spark conversations, build recognition, and strengthen Butler’s brand in emerging markets. 

The program is open to anyone connected to Butler. Prospective Ambassadors can visit the Butler Ambassador website to complete a brief quiz that matches them with engagement opportunities aligned with their interests—no matter their location. 

For Kate Kennedy ’04, Chair of the Butler University Alumni Association Regional Engagement Committee, the new approach signals a more inclusive era of alumni engagement. 

“Living in Cincinnati, I sometimes felt outside the traditional alumni circle,” she says. “This new approach includes Bulldogs everywhere, with opportunities that can be tailored to personal interests and varying levels of engagement.” 

With the launch of the Butler Ambassador program, the University is calling on Bulldogs around the world to play a role in shaping its future—proving that wherever they go, Butler goes with them.
