What were you involved in during high school, and what did those experiences mean to you?
During high school, I was involved in numerous activities, including Track & Field, the Latino Advocacy Mentorship Program (L.A.M.P.), and Peer Tutoring. Participating in these programs helped shape the person I am today by teaching me resilience, perseverance, and, most importantly, empathy. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of teamwork, leadership, and supporting others in their growth and success.
What inspired you to study engineering? Why did you choose Butler’s Engineering program specifically?
My whole life, I always knew what I wanted to do and how to achieve my goals. However, during my sophomore year of high school, I discovered my love for chemistry and realized how fascinating and important it is in everyday life. That’s when I started researching careers that involved chemistry, which led me to discover chemical engineering. The combination of science, problem-solving, and innovation immediately stood out to me, and I knew it was the career path I wanted to pursue.
I chose Butler’s Engineering program specifically because my sister is a Butler alumna, and seeing the immense amount of support she received during her time as a student made a strong impression on me. This helped me realize that Butler provides the kind of supportive and welcoming environment that I want to be a part of as I continue my education and work toward my future career.
What excites you most about studying engineering at Butler?
What excites me most about studying engineering at Butler is the opportunity to expand my knowledge while connecting with people who share the same passion as I do. I’m excited to learn through hands-on experiences, challenge myself academically, and build relationships with classmates and professors who can help me grow both personally and professionally.
What are you most excited to get involved with on campus?
I’m not completely sure yet, but I would love to get involved in clubs and organizations that focus on helping others and making a positive impact in the community. I’m excited to explore different opportunities on campus, meet new people, and find ways to give back in appreciation to all the help I received while starting my new journey.
How do you think Butler will help you grow as a person or student?
I think being at Butler will help me grow by giving me a supportive environment where I can challenge myself academically and become more independent. I also believe the opportunities to get involved will help me build confidence, leadership skills, and meaningful connections.
What advice would you give to other students starting their college search?
Choose the school that has the most to offer you because, at the end of the day, it’s the place that will best prepare you professionally for what is to come after college. The right school should make you feel supported, challenged, and excited about your future.
