What were some of your favorite memories as a Butler student?
Some of my favorite memories as a Butler student have revolved around the lacrosse team. Getting to participate in Division 1 athletics while still having the balance of a small, supportive classroom environment allowed me to dedicate myself to both academics and athletics. I also loved how engaging all of my professors have been in the classroom. I have cherished the fact that I have formed personal relationships with my professors and classmates that will last me a lifetime. One great memory would have to be the recent eclipse. The number of Butler community members who gathered on campus to share such a special moment was something that made me feel so included in the Butler family.
What were the best parts about your major and/or your college?
The Lacy School of Business ensures the success of its students. The personal connections that students are able to make with their professors are second to none. Being a Marketing and Finance double major, I was able to experience a variety of business aspects throughout my time at Butler that I truly believe have prepared me for my future career and life. The Career Mentor program is one of the most amazing parts of the Lacy School as students are connected with an experienced mentor on day one to advise them on their internships and career journey post-graduation.
What professor and/or staff member played an important role during your time at Butler?
I think it would be unfair for me to only name one professor that played an important role in my time at Butler. Some professors that come to mind are Professor Karbowski, Professor Caito, Professor Mackoy, Professor Zhang, and Professor Skinner. While all these professors have different teaching styles and areas of focus, they all share the passion for their students’ learning. They have all created connected, dynamic classroom environments where students know that their learning and engagement is important. I cannot thank these professors enough for the lessons they have taught me about the business world and about life.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be working as a sales trainee at Cintas, learning the ins and outs of their main clientele and working with current sales representatives to learn new tactics. After training, I will be working as a sales representative for the Indianapolis region. I am so excited to begin this new chapter of my professional career.
How did Butler prepare you for this next step?
Butler has taught me how to foster real connections with those around me. Butler has also taught me the ins and outs of how to be a lifelong learner which I believe has prepared me for success in a lot of different realms.
What are your long-term career goals?
I hope to continue to grow as an individual and provide people and businesses with solutions to their problems. I would love to advance into a marketing analytics role further into my career, but right now I want to be connecting with people as much as possible.
What are you going to miss most about your time at Butler?
I am going to miss the friends I have made at Butler the most. Coming from Maryland, I did not have a strong network of people in the Midwest when I first came to Butler. The friends I have made here, the teammates I have grown with, and the professors that have helped form who I am today have changed my life. I cannot thank Butler enough for the experiences it has provided me and the lifelong friends I have made here.
What advice would you give a first-year student?
I would tell first-year students to enjoy every second they are here. Time goes by faster than you think, so cherish every memory you make, attend every event, and meet with everyone while you can. Graduating is such a bittersweet feeling as I am so lucky to have had such a terrific experience at Butler, and I am excited to start the next chapter of my life.
