Chatham Tap

Of course we need to start with our own on-campus watering hole. Chatham Tap opened on Butler’s campus a few years ago and quickly became a local favorite. This pub-style restaurant is basically a museum for Butler artifacts—it even has the jersey Butler Blue II wore to the 2010 and 2011 Final Fours. The menu boasts sandwiches, fantastic apps, and—of course—fish and chips. This place is perfect for game days at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

What to try: Fish and Chips, Angel Wings, or the Smoking Black and Bleu Burger (Vegetarian options available)

Dining options: Carryout, delivery, dine in, and patio service

Café Patachou

The Butler community goes to this sit-down spot for breakfast or brunch. Café Patachou has upscale and delicious breakfast and lunch favorites, including omelettes, scrambles, soups, salad, and sandwiches. Don’t forget their iconic specialty coffee and cinnamon toast. It’s only about a four-minute drive from campus, and you can easily walk there.

What to try: The Omelette You Can’t Refuse, The Cuban Breakfast, and Cinnamon Toast (GF, Vegetarian, and Vegan options available)

Dining Options: Carryout, dine in, and patio service

317 Burger and 317 BBQ

These are two of my favorite spots in the heart of Broad Ripple. Both 317 Burger and 317 BBQ are under the same ownership, and bonus: They are Butler grads!

These spots are both aptly named, specializing in burgers and bbq, respectively. 317 Burger prides themselves on high-quality ingredients, serving 100 percent premium Black Angus beef, as well as bison, turkey, veggie, and Impossible Burger patties.

Literally 30 seconds away sits 317 BBQ! It won’t be hard to find—just follow your nose. Their hardwood smoker is hard at work crafting a Hoosier approach to Texas-style bbq.

What to try:
317 Burger: Wake up San Francisco, The Diner, Pickle Fries, and Fried Mac and Cheese (GF and Vegetarian options available)

317 BBQ: The Pork Spare Ribs, Half Local Amish Chicken, and White Cheddar Mac and Cheese (GF and Vegetarian options available)

Dining Options: Carryout, delivery, dine in, and patio service

La Piedad

If you are craving classic Mexican food, this is the spot. Located on the Monon right in Broad Ripple, this is the perfect dinner location on a nice night. There are few things better than sharing some chips and salsa on the patio with your friends on a Saturday night after spending the afternoon strolling the stores nearby.

What to try: Arroz Con Pollo, Fajitas

Dining Options: Carryout, dine in, and patio service

Ripple Bagel & Deli

Broad Ripple Bagel & Deli is the ultimate college town restaurant. This place is loaded with countless types of spreads, toppings, and bagels. If it’s a Friday at lunch, you can basically guarantee our mascot team is getting some sandies to go.  This is the quintessential quick Butler breakfast or lunch.

What to try: The Egg McMahon, The Big “N”, and  The Sarah’s Secret (GF and Vegetarian options available)

Dining Options: Carryout, dine in, and patio service
