Where are you interning and what are your day-to-day responsibilities?
I am working at Rolls-Royce as a business and enterprise intern for the U.S. Defense Services team. I spend my days meeting with coworkers worldwide to discuss continuous improvement opportunities for our current processes.

How does this internship relate to your major?
Rolls-Royce is committed to finding new opportunities in aviation and working towards being net zero by 2050. This commitment requires an innovative mindset when considering all aspects of the business, so I apply my entrepreneurial and innovative expertise to real-world business problems every day.

What project are you particularly proud of?
I find great fulfillment when I am part of a team that finds solutions. I am proud of the improvement project I am currently a part of, which entails helping our leaders understand what outputs drive our company objectives. It has been extremely exciting to work with all areas of the business and learn more about how each team can produce change for the organization.

What are your career goals and how is this internship preparing you?
The biggest goal I have for my career is to be a great leader. I always seek new opportunities to learn and grow my leadership skills. I want to work with people and understand what motivates others. During this internship, I have had the chance to lead small projects, attend leadership training, and work closely with a career mentor.

What advice would you give another student who may be looking for an internship?
The best advice I ever received is to seek out others who have the job you want. Talk to them, ask them how they got there, and ask for advice. I spend my free time meeting with others and learning about their career journey. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable and continue to learn even when you’re not in class.
