How did you first hear about Butler, and what interested you in the University?
I heard about Butler University from a transfer fair at Vincennes University. I wasn’t sure what career to pursue at the time, but I knew I wanted to be involved in the scientific field and medicine. When I found out about Butler’s excellent graduate programs and the research opportunities available during undergrad, I felt confident that Butler would provide me with the opportunities I needed to succeed in whatever career I decided to choose.
What do you hope to get involved in on campus?
During my time at Butler, I hope to get involved in lab research, and I’m looking forward to being able to travel and present research. Some of the clubs and other activities I’m interested in joining are the Women in STEM Club and campus Bible studies. I’m also into fitness and an avid sports fan, so I hope to join Butler’s Run Club and participate in some intramural sports. I also can’t wait to cheer on the Bulldogs in Hinkle Fieldhouse. Go Dawgs!
What is your favorite part about Butler so far?
One of my favorite parts about Butler so far is the location and the campus atmosphere. When I was looking at where to transfer, I wanted to branch out and be close to a big city, but I knew I would miss the nature and quiet small-town feeling my hometown offered. While Butler is located in Indianapolis, the campus is very private with lots of trees and places to walk and enjoy the outdoors. After visiting, I knew it was a place I could call home for the next few years.
What are you looking forward to most while being a student at Butler?
One of the things I am looking forward to most when it comes to being a student at Butler is being able to do research and make new friendships with classmates. Having the opportunity to work and learn alongside my professors and fellow students is something I am very excited about! Also, with the small class sizes and professors who are willing and able to meet with students one-on-one, I feel I will be able to learn with ease and build new friendships in the process.
What advice would you give to other students who are thinking of transferring?
One piece of advice I would give to students thinking about transferring to Butler is to visit the campus. For me, just seeing the campus, meeting fellow students, and learning about all the different opportunities Butler has was an absolute game-changer. Once I saw firsthand how welcoming and accepting Butler is and the opportunities and accommodations they offer, I knew it was the perfect choice for me!
