For the fourth year in a row, Butler University has been named one of the best undergraduate institutions in the nation, according to The Princeton Review. Butler is included in the 2022 edition of The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, The Best 387 Colleges.

The book provides school recommendations for undergraduate college applicants, showcasing only about 14 percent of America’s 2,700 four-year colleges. The education services company chooses the colleges for the book based on data it annually collects from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences.

“We salute Butler University for its outstanding academics, and we are genuinely pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their ‘best-fit’ college,” says Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s Editor-in-Chief and lead author of The Best 387 Colleges.

In the book’s profile of Butler, students highlighted the University’s focus on experiential learning through activities such as research and internships. Students also appreciated Butler’s small class sizes; access to passionate, high-quality faculty who provide constant support; and the University’s beautiful campus located in the heart of a capital city.

Beyond academics, students value the variety of opportunities to get involved on campus and throughout Indianapolis, especially through Greek Life and community service. They described the Butler community as tight-knit and supportive, embracing “Hoosier Hospitality.”

Butler is also included in The Princeton Review’s 2021 Guide to Green Colleges, which highlights environmentally responsible schools, and named one of the best Midwestern institutions in the company’s 2022 Best Colleges: Region by Region.

The best 387 colleges are not ranked hierarchically. Published annually since 1992, the book features detailed descriptions of each college, including admission and graduation rates, as well as excerpts from surveys of students and graduates.
