Butler University is partnering with Noodle, the country’s fastest-growing online learning network, to offer three online graduate programs, university officials announced today. Students can apply now for admission to earn Butler master’s degrees online in Business Administration (MBA), Data Analytics, and Strategic Communication.

Programs:

  • Master of Science (MS) in Strategic CommunicationThe 30-credit-hour program blends communication theory, emerging trends, and best practices to help develop industry leaders, capable of thinking critically, solving problems, and adapting to this rapidly evolving field. This program is designed to help you advance within your current organization or transition into a new career path, promoting personal growth and helping you tackle new challenges.
  • Master of Business Administration—The 38-credit-hour Master of Business Administration combines both theory and practice in a self-paced, student-focused environment. Students in our program benefit from numerous opportunities to apply classroom lessons to real-life situations, as well as through assigned leadership coaches who guide students in achieving personal and professional goals.
  • Master of Science in Data Analytics—The 31-32-credit program focuses on contextualizing data analytics in different areas of expertise—business analytics, healthcare analytics, and bioinformatics. Through hands-on learning and real-world applications, students will employ the key technologies in data analytics, including data mining, machine learning, visualization, and predictive modeling.

The programs are a product of Butler Beyond, the University’s strategic direction that in part establishes an organizational structure and expands programmatic offerings that meet the needs of non-traditional and online learners. The initiative includes alternative credentials and certificates, corporate education, and degree and non-degree programs for adults and those that desire a more flexible and personalized university experience.

“Butler University recognizes that different learners have different needs, and may require different models of education,” Butler University President James M. Danko said. “As an institution of higher education, we are committed to embracing and supporting learners of all life stages and backgrounds. I’m confident that these newly created online graduate programs will prove to be popular with adult learners who value a high-quality Butler University education that can be delivered in a manner that accommodates their extremely busy work-life schedules.”

In March 2021, Butler announced it had received a nearly $10 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. through Charting the Future for Indiana’s Colleges and Universities, a statewide initiative. Lilly Endowment designed Charting the Future to help Indiana’s 38 colleges and universities “engage in thoughtful discernment about the future of their institutions and advance strategic planning and implementation efforts to address key challenges and opportunities.” An earlier Charting the Future planning grant helped Butler research, identify, and prioritize the needs it wanted to address. A portion of the funding from the latest Charting the Future grant will support the University’s efforts to address the needs of both adult learners and employers.

Butler already offers its MBA on campus and MS is Strategic Communication online but will partner with Noodle beginning in Spring 2022 to accelerate the rollout of these and other online graduate programs. Through the partnership, Butler plans to launch more new online programs over the next three years.
