Founder’s College at Butler University offers two-year associate degrees designed for Indianapolis-area students. Students can choose from in-demand programs in business, healthcare, and youth and community advocacy—and because Founder’s College was designed for students with limited financial resources, financial aid is expected to cover tuition, fees, books, a laptop, and even a meal plan. Students learn alongside other peers at Butler, get support from dedicated professors, and graduate ready to launch a career or continue on to a four-year degree.

What were you involved with in high school?
For a majority of my high school career, I was part of an art club and I was also a part of JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates), where I learned job skills and even got to do a paid internship at a place of my choosing. I was most proud of being a part of JAG since I was secretary for both years, and I helped plan many events and other service learning projects.

How did you first hear about Founder’s College at Butler University, and what made you apply?
I first heard about Founder’s College from my JAG teacher. He helped me learn more and apply. Everyone at Founder’s College seems to really care about the students and it is an amazing opportunity. It not only has a program I am interested in, but it also helps with the financial burden most college students face.

What do you hope to get involved with on campus?
I’m still researching and looking into some clubs I think I would potentially like, but I really hope I can broaden my horizons and try something new. I also look forward to meeting new people.

What inspired you to study Healthcare Studies?
I was fortunate enough to be able to complete an internship during my senior year at a local animal shelter, but it helped me realize that I want a different career. So, I decided on the Clinical Science concentration because I believe I would greatly enjoy being able to help the community and others.

What are you looking forward to most while being a student at Founder’s College?
I look forward to seeing what classes are going to be like at Founder’s College, but the big thing I’m excited for is meeting new people and hopefully making new friends. I know that Founder’s College will be made up of a smaller population of students, so I’m hoping I can make some strong connections during my time at Butler.
