What led you to Butler?
I had to make my college decision early because of recruitment, and I knew I wanted to stay close to my family. I wanted to make sure that I could still be part of my younger sisters’ lives even after I moved out. On my Butler visit, I loved the coaches and culture of the team. Not only were they a very successful program, but they were genuinely fun people to be around and made me feel right at home.
What is the best thing about being a member of a women’s sports team?
The best thing about being a member of the women’s soccer team is the genuine friendships I have grown over the last several years. When you spend as much time together as we do, it forms really special bonds. I am so thankful for the amazing friends I have made.
What is your favorite student activity?
I really enjoy pickleball. Over the summer, I played a lot with my family, and now, with Butler’s pickleball courts, I have been able to play here, too. It is lighthearted, fun, and a great way to stay active.
Who on campus has inspired you the most and why?
Professor Fernhaber has inspired me. She was so passionate about the material in her Social Entrepreneurship course that I’ve been inspired to one day start my own social enterprise. She opened my eyes to see that you don’t necessarily have to start a nonprofit to do good in the world. You can make a positive impact in many ways.
What is your greatest achievement from your time at Butler?
My greatest achievement while at Butler was when I was selected as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year. It really validated all the hard work that the team had put in over the season.
That year, Talia Sommer also won the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year award. It was great to see our team receive the recognition we earned.
What do you want to do upon graduation?
Upon graduation, I would love to continue pursuing my soccer career. While I am still young and able to play, I would like to experience playing overseas somewhere and see what opportunities soccer can provide me. I also want to continue growing my marketing career, and eventually, I want to start my own business with my sister.
What words or advice would you give to an incoming Butler student-athlete?
I encourage them to enjoy the experience while it lasts. It goes by quickly. Your college years are some of the best years of your life. Enjoy every second and live in the moment!
