What were you involved in during high school, and what did those experiences mean to you?
In high school, I was involved in track and cross country, and this taught me valuable leadership and communication skills and gave me lifelong friends. I was also the leader of a retreat called Operation Snowball, which focuses on inclusion in my high school community. Through that experience, I learned to have an open mind and to never judge someone from the surface. I also participated in a program called Knights Way, where we go to classrooms each quarter and teach the core values of my high school. And I was a member of our school’s service club as well as a student section leader.

What inspired you to study nursing? Why did you choose Butler’s Nursing program specifically?
I was inspired to study nursing thanks to my older cousin, who is currently a nurse in Wisconsin. He always speaks highly of the profession and tells me how rewarding it is, so this encouraged me to look into it. I chose Butler’s Nursing program for a variety of reasons. The program offers a great student-to-faculty ratio and includes state-of-the-art facilities and a strong curriculum.

What excites you most about studying nursing at Butler?
I am excited to meet members of my fellow cohort and to make positive connections with everybody involved. I am also very excited to be a part of a new program as it continues to build and strengthen in the years to come.

What are you most excited to get involved with on campus?
I’m excited to get involved with leadership opportunities on campus, as well as basketball games. I am also excited to get involved with Fraternity and Sorority Life.

How do you think Butler will help you grow as a person or student?
I believe Butler will help me learn to be more independent and develop my study techniques. I also think my leadership and communication skills will improve as I prepare to enter the workforce.

What advice would you give to other students starting their college search?
I would suggest to other students to keep their minds open when doing their college search and make a list of what they hope to get out of college. Thankfully for me, Butler checked all the boxes on my list, and I am so excited to get started in the fall.
