Stephanie Hinshaw, Ed.D., MBA ’07 will serve as the inaugural Executive Director of the Butler University Transformation Lab. The primary focus of the Transformation Lab’s work is to support the Butler Beyond Strategic Direction, both driving and supporting ideas that contribute to Butler’s transformation and long-term viability.

In her new role, Hinshaw will lead all operational aspects of the Transformation Lab, from fiscal and team management, to oversight of the management of projects, programming, and events that advance the unit’s mission. She will build and manage internal and external relationships to advance innovation initiatives, and work with the various Butler Beyond strategy leads to identify ways in which the Lab can support ideas emerging from existing efforts. Hinshaw will also oversee the evaluation of market opportunities and financial investment for new program and venture ideas. Hinshaw will report to Melissa Beckwith, Butler’s Vice President of Strategy & Innovation.

“The Butler Beyond strategic direction calls for Butler to, in part, seek innovative partnerships and business models that address the future of higher education and drive long-term stability and success for the University,” Hinshaw said. “I’m excited for this opportunity to move Butler’s culture forward while respecting its tradition.”

Hinshaw arrives at Butler with more than 20 years of higher education experience. She most recently served as Chief Academic Officer and Provost for American College of Education. Hinshaw previously held leadership positions with Orbis Education, Medtech College, and Harrison College. She earned an Ed.D. in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Creighton University, an MBA at Butler University, and a B.A. in Journalism at Indiana University.

“Stephanie possesses the experience, education and entrepreneurial spirit required to lead Butler’s Transformation Lab,” Beckwith said. “She will be an integral part of Butler’s strategic efforts to identify creative opportunities to collaborate with local and national partners who share our vision for transforming higher education.”
