Butler University is excited to welcome an exceptional group of first-year students this coming fall. Read on to get to know Emily Kane, one member of the Class of 2025.
What were you involved in during high school?
I was the co-captain of the varsity softball team during my junior and senior year. I was also involved with a club called Hearts for Haiti, which planned fundraising events and helped support a school in Haiti.
How did you initially hear about Butler?
My mom actually found Butler initially, but once I learned more about it, I really liked it because of its size—not too big, not too small. It also has an excellent Elementary Education program, which is what I’m planning to major in.
Were you able to visit campus?
I just visited Butler in person in April to take a tour of campus since I hadn’t seen it in person yet! Prior to that though, I took advantage of all of the virtual visits and events that Butler offers, including the College of Education Butler Bound information sessions, True Blue events, and virtual Explore Butler visits.
What is your favorite part about Butler?
During the many virtual events I attended, I always felt like Butler had a really strong community. Then, when I was able to visit in person, I felt that even more. All the faculty, staff, and students I interacted with have been super friendly and willing to help answer any questions I had.
What do you hope to get involved with?
I would like to be involved in Hillel and other clubs on campus. I’m excited to learn more about what I can get involved with once I’m on campus in the fall.
What are you most excited about?
I can’t wait to meet new people, make new friends, and get involved on campus. I’m also really excited to live somewhere new and experience a place that I haven’t really visited before.
