What were you involved with during high school? Please provide a few details about your involvement.
I was involved in a wide array of activities with anything from Boy Scouts, to playing soccer and football, to the Spanish Club, Key Club, and Student Council. Along with that, I volunteered at a summer camp south of Louisville working at first as a lifeguard and now as a management team member. With all my community involvement and a little bit of a deeper story that I have, I was awarded the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for my county.
How did you first hear about Butler and what interested you in the University?
I first heard about Butler through a friend who was attending a soccer camp there a couple of years back, and I decided to go with him. When I got there I immediately was astonished by the beauty of the campus and how peaceful it was, especially being in a large city.
What is your favorite part about Butler?
What really convinced me to attend Butler was the fact that the university had a similar feel to my hometown. The institution offered a variety of opportunities all within a distance of a large city. I loved the idea of the smaller high school-sized classes, as well as the opportunity to easily create a great relationship with fellow students and the professors that I’ll have in those classes.
Why did you ultimately decide to choose Butler?
I ultimately chose Butler because of the feeling that I got when I first stepped onto campus for an official visit. The entire tour program was amazing and the admissions office staff was so ready to reach out a helping hand in whatever way you needed it. I knew that Butler was my dream school from that moment and going there I would have the people around me that would make it their priority for me to succeed. So when I got word of my scholarship, it was meant to be.
What do you hope to get involved with or be a part of at Butler?
I already have it lined up but I will help out with the soccer team by being their social media coordinator and helping out with any other team duties as they arise. Apart from soccer, I am looking forward to watching some great basketball and just enjoying the connections that Butler has with the surrounding communities.
What are you most excited about?
I am most excited about just finally reaching that next step and being in a place where the people who surround me are on the same path and are driven to come out on the other side with a well-deserved degree, as well as all the memories that come along with that.
