Master’s in International Strategic Marketing, University of Glasgow
What is your current position and how did Butler help you build the skills you use now?
I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Strategic Marketing at the University of Glasgow. Butler provided me with hands-on opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Through leadership roles in student organizations, internships facilitated by the Lacy School of Business, and my coursework, I developed the toolset needed to pursue a career that would eventually take me across the globe.
Looking at where you are today, how did Butler help shape that path?
Butler, as an institution, strongly facilitated and encouraged learning beyond the classroom. The university made opportunities such as studying abroad highly accessible for someone like me, cultivating the passion I now have for international experiences. Having my undergraduate education at a school that understands just how expansive the world really is allowed me to develop the global perspective that has led me to where I am today.
What’s something you discovered about yourself while you were here?
Honestly, Butler made me realize how much I’m truly capable of. By facing challenges and sometimes even failing, I developed a stronger belief in myself. Butler showed me that growth often comes from discomfort and that I am far more capable than I believed.
Looking back, what experience at Butler ended up being more influential than you realized at the time?
Professors Matthew Caito and Chad Miller in the Lacy School of Business really pushed me to get out of my comfort zone. That gave me the confidence I needed to eventually pursue my master’s degree overseas. Without their encouragement, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today.
What are your future career goals?
In the future, I hope to combine my passion for film and marketing, either at a marketing agency or in-house at a larger firm in the entertainment or media space. Studying outside of the United States has given me a broader global perspective. It has also shaped how I think about storytelling and engaging international audiences. After completing my postgraduate studies, I aim to build a career in New York City or Chicago, where I can continue to grow within diverse communities.
What advice would you give a prospective student who’s considering Butler?
I would encourage them to take full advantage of the opportunities Butler has to offer. Get involved early and build relationships with professors and peers. What makes Butler so special is how deeply invested everyone is in your success. The school provides a supportive environment for students to challenge themselves and take risks, but ultimately, it depends on how much you put into it.
