As a first-generation college student, Eiman Toor ’26 bravely moved across the world to pursue a Butler degree. With Butler’s small class sizes and tight-knit community, she easily found her place on campus.

First-generation student Laila McClimon ’25, knew her opportunities at Butler would be endless. She encourages students to take advantage of the University’s resources and be true to themselves.

From the start, first-generation student Elijah Heslop felt Butler was the perfect place for him. Now a senior, he has grown as a leader, connected with Indianapolis professionals, and has excelled in his interests.

November 8 is recognized nationally as First-Generation College Celebration Day, which is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating students who are the first in their families to attend college and promoting educational access.
