What were you involved with during high school? Please provide a few details about your involvement.
During high school, I was involved in Kiwanis Key Club, which is a volunteer organization. I also participated in many local community service projects such as helping set up tables for an event or planting flowers for our local senior living community. I was also involved in Redbird Buddies, which was a club similar to Best Buddies, where I was a mentor. This club was mainly for students with intellectual disabilities and the mentors hung out with those students to do fun activities such as movie nights and attending basketball games. I was also a sprinter on the girls track team and competed with the team at various meets.
How did you first hear about Butler and what interested you in the University?
I first heard about Butler when I was looking up colleges to apply to. I knew I wanted to major in business in some way and Butler happened to pop up in that search. I saw that Butler offered a specific Entrepreneurship program, which I was very interested in. Starting my own business has been something that I have wanted to do since I was little.
What is your favorite part about Butler?
My favorite part about Butler is how homey it feels. I am from a small town and I know I didn’t want to go to a huge school so Butler was the perfect choice for me. It feels like a big school without all the chaos. I also liked the idea of smaller classes, because I just like getting to know the people in my classes as well as my professor.
Why did you ultimately decide to choose Butler?
I chose Butler because of its academics as well as the atmosphere that is created on campus. When I first toured Butler, I immediately knew that I was going to love it. In addition to the atmosphere, the academics were a major factor for me. Butler had the exact major I was looking for and the classes and requirements would give me vital hands-on experience opportunities.
What do you hope to get involved with or be a part of at Butler?
I hope to get involved with community service around Butler and possibly a club like Best Buddies. Other than that, I still have more to learn about the types of clubs that Butler offers but I would love to get involved in a business club of some sort as well.
What are you most excited about?
While I am very excited about the academic side of things at Butler, I am most excited to meet new people and hopefully make some new friends. I am also very excited about basketball and football games that I can hopefully go to with some of my new friends. I think all of that will be a really fun and new experience.
