Name: Abbie Cadkin
Hometown: Deerfield, Illinois
Intended Major: Exploratory Studies

Butler University is excited to welcome an exceptional group of first-year students this coming fall. Read on to get to know Abbie Cadkin, one member of the Class of 2025.

What were you involved with during high school?
At my high school, I was a member of the Student Council, the Key Club, Warrior Buddies, field hockey, the Spanish Honors Society, and Honors Society. Outside of school, I organized and led a team of 100+ participants in the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk. I also underwent extensive training and shadowed a mentor to prepare to work independently at Heartland Animal Shelter.

What initially piqued your interest in Butler?
Throughout the college search and decision process, I was looking for a smaller school that would provide great support from professors. Butler always met that criteria. In addition, Butler’s Exploratory Studies program really attracted my attention as I’m not sure what I want to major in, and I want some extra help in making that decision.

What is your favorite part about Butler?
Hands down, the community. The professors seem to genuinely care for students and want to truly get to know them. Starting college is a big change, so knowing that I have a good support system is very comforting.

What do you hope to get involved with on campus?
I want to get involved in philanthropic work and service projects. It’s important to me to make a positive impact on campus.

What are you most excited about?
I can’t wait to meet new people and get a great education that will help shape my future success.
