Butler University is excited to welcome an exceptional group of first-year students this coming fall. Read on to get to know Amandeep Basra, an international student and one member of the Class of 2025.

What were you involved with during high school?
I was very involved with the various sciences (especially physics) at my school. Outside of academics, I participated in basketball and soccer competitions, and was part of the student council. I also helped out in the community and in my school wherever I was needed.

How did you hear about Butler and what interested you in the University?
Being an international student, I did a lot of research on many universities online. I found Butler on the U.S. News and World Report website, where I saw that Butler is the Number One Regional University in the Midwest. I also did a virtual visit, and after discovering that Butler offers my major, I became very interested in what the school had to offer.

Why did you choose to attend Butler?
I got a very good impression of Butler’s campus, and, as a future Astronomy and Astrophysics major, I was especially interested in Holcomb Observatory. It’s one of the largest public observatories in the world, and I can’t wait to work and learn in such a space. I also found Butler’s community to be very friendly and family-like.

What are you most excited about?
I’m looking forward to getting involved in the student community at Butler. I hope to play in various intramural sports, especially soccer, and learn more about other on-campus activities. I am also really excited about starting my studies in Astronomy and Astrophysics
