At Butler, there are many study abroad programs to choose from. Jonathan Shinn ’25 chose Milan, Italy because of the city’s thriving music community.

One of the best things about being a Bulldog is the Butler community. As a student, Ryan Norman ’24 has built a strong network of peers and alums always offering to lend a hand. She hopes to do the same upon graduation, sharing the art of dance with students.

Madeleine Hall ’24 credits Butler for its supportive environment, encouraging her to pursue her artistic and academic passions. Majoring in Dance Performance and Psychology, Madeleine hopes to continue her education in graduate school and own her own dance company.

Studying Dance Arts Administration, Gabriela Gutierrez ’24, hopes to inspire others through her passion for dance and art.

Taylor Bowen ’18 directly applies lessons from her time at Butler to her Walt Disney World Public Affairs role. An Art of Storytelling class, as well as many art history courses, influenced the stories she has pitched, messages she has written, and even artwork she has done for Walt Disney World over the years.

On Friday, October 20, the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation (CDFF) announced a $343,000 Legacy Grant to Butler University to support the Christel DeHaan Visiting International Theatre Artist (VITA) program. With an interest in fundraising and development work, Senior Gabriella Tzougros’s internship with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has been an excellent opportunity to learn more about this important component of the non-profit industry.

From writing emails, to creating social media plans, to capturing photo and video footage, senior Martha Clifford has dipped her toes into just about everything as an intern with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

2017 alumnus Matthew Griffin says his Butler education gave him the skills to dance at a professional level plus helped him develop the time management and interpersonal skills needed to work in a ballet company.

This 2014 alumna credits her exposure to full- and small-scale dance productions, plus opportunities to network, with her success as a freelancer and costume designer and builder in New York City.

While some of our soon-to-be graduates will leave Butler for new chapters, one will stay. Following graduation, Jordan College of the Arts student Katelyn Soards will work as the Assistant Director of Sponsorships for the Butler Arts and Events Center (BAEC).

2023 graduate Amelia Thurman says all of the field experience as a Music Education student has prepared her exceptionally well for her next chapter in teaching.
